Team
The Urbee team is made up of people who, for the most part, have worked with each other on design engineering projects for decades. As well, there are some members that are new to our community of designers, innovators and craftspeople. However, we all share a few basic common beliefs. We love to design and we feel strongly that the cars we have to choose from don't have our best interests or our planet's best interests at heart. We want to drive vehicles that won't suck us or our planet dry. The following biographies tell you a little about the fine people who make up the Urbee team.
Jim Kor
Jim Kor is a professional engineer (mechanical) with over 35 years of experience in designing automotive, bus, rail, agricultural, and heavy mobile equipment as well as civil structures and product for the aerospace and medical industries. He is the senior designer and project leader for the Urbee project. Jim is the owner of Kor Product Design, a 30 year old international consulting firm.
David Bernhardt
David Bernhardt is an Industrial Designer with 15 years of experience, ten in automotive customizing and as an aircraft technician and five as an industrial design consultant. Dave works on the design of the exterior and interior vehicle components of Urbee. He owns his own company, Technology Revolution (www.TechnologyRevolution.com).
Paulo Fernandes
Paulo Fernandes has been a professional graphic designer and web developer for 5 years and has a degree in computer engineering. He is our website and branding expert as well as the team photographer. Paulo owns his own company, PieffeDESIGN.
Terry Halajko
Terry Halajko is an Industrial Designer with 18 years of product design experience in the transportation, agricultural, medical, and gaming industries. Terry manages the design of the exterior and interior vehicle components of Urbee. He is self-employed and his company’s name is Terry Halajko Industrial Design.
Blaine McFarlane
Blaine McFarlane is a Professional Engineer (mechanical) with 14 years experience in new product development. Blaine has been involved in hybrid vehicle designs ranging from transit buses to motorcycles. Blaine is the owner of Solve Product Design, an engineering consulting company based in Winnipeg.
Robert McGregor
Bob brings his years of experience in media, marketing, and strategic vision. He is a a former CTV anchor, producer and director as well as a previous Creative Arts Chair at Red River College.
Bruce Sewart
Bruce Sewart has a Masters degree in Computer Science and has been an independent consultant in computer systems analysis and programming for 30 years. Bruce is the owner of ManDesign Inc, co-founder and Treasurer of Kor Ecologic and the project manager for the Urbee team. .
Jim Shewchuk
Jim Shewchuk has 44 years of manufacturing experience, most of it as a tool and die machinist in research and development. Jim has owned his own company, Merit Machine, for 25 years and does much of the prototype machining for Urbee.
Jack Slivinski
Jack Slivinski is a Mechanical Engineer with 30 years experience in design, testing, maintenance and manufacturing of agricultural machines, aircraft, prosthetics, rehabilitation devices, office facilities, and electric and hybrid vehicles. Jack has optimized performance simulations of the Urbee drive train and has developed a stable rear wheel steering configuration. He continues to design and build mechanical components for the Urbee.
Rita Tully
Rita Tully is a Certified General Accountant (CGA) and has been operating for over twenty years from a home based business and is a Simply Accounting Partner and a Quickbooks Pro-Advisor. She provides accounting services to the Urbee team. Her website is: www.ritatullycga.com
John Vukelic
John Vukelic has a degree in electrical engineering and 10 years of experience in designing and prototyping electrical systems from the ground up for very large off-highway mobile equipment. He does all our electrical design and prototyping for the Urbee project. He also writes and coordinates much of the social media for Urbee.
Andrew Warren
Andrew Warren is a professional engineer (P.Eng) (mechanical) with 24 years of experience in the aerospace and automotive industries. He does much of the engineering calculations for Urbee as well as quite a bit of writing for the project too.
